Still Breathing

In the middle of a road, a woman’s cries can be heard, “Oh God! Help! Help me! Please!”

“Shhhh. It’s ok,” her husband said.

Frantically, she asked, “How can you say that? How can you keep smiling?”

“I can smile since you’re alright. You’re still with me, and I can still breathe,” he replied.

The woman fell silent, disarmed by what her husband said. She hugged him, and for twenty three minutes, he continued smiling while he was pinned in between his steering wheel and car seat, skewered by a metal rod transported by a truck that they collided into.
